CPD Workshop | Sensory Rhythms in Practice

A Hands-On, Experiential Learning Session for Therapists

đź•’ Duration: 2.5 hours

📍 Format: Live, interactive Zoom session (cameras on!)

🎯 Who is it for?

Therapists who have completed at least three days of SI Workshop training or ASI Module 1, looking for practical, evidence-based sensory integration strategies that are appropriate for adolescents and adults.

👏Also suitable too for therapists who have trained in a paediatric focussed programme looking for ideas for enhancing sensory integration beyond childhood.

Workshop Overview

This experiential, movement-based workshop aligns with fidelity to Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI), integrating assessment-driven, co-produced interventions that are playful, engaging, and meaningful. Using therapy balls and pool noodles, we will explore bilateral integration, sequencing, and social participation activities that address sensory-motor challenges in a way that supports neuroplasticity and functional participation.

• 🌀 Aligning with ASI principles, we will use information from assessments, including sensory grids, to ensure activities match each person’s individual sensory motor profile.

• 🤹‍♀️ Explore playful yet purposeful sensory-motor activities designed to meet just-right challenge levels.

• 👥 Understand relational participation—recognising that co-regulation and shared rhythmic experiences create the conditions for engagement and success.

• 🧠 Apply neuroscience-informed principles to support sensory modulation, praxis, and adaptive responses.

Why This Approach?

✔️ Fidelity to ASI principles

• This session is grounded in assessment and co-production, ensuring that sensory-motor activities are tailored to individual needs rather than generic approaches.

• Activities follow the Just-Right Challenge, promoting adaptive responses and neuroplasticity.

✔️ A meaningful approach for adolescents and adults

• Many SI-informed approaches are child-focused, yet older individuals also benefit from SI principles when activities are developmentally appropriate.

• This workshop provides engaging, non-stigmatising, and accessible strategies that support participation, self-regulation, and motor skills.

✔️ Embedding occupational justice and inclusive participation

• Sensory integration is about more than equipment—it’s about creating opportunities for participation that are meaningful and engaging.

• Movement, rhythm, and group-based sensory experiences are inherently inclusive, supporting self-regulation, relational engagement, and social participation.

What to Bring:

âś… A therapy ball (exercise ball, yoga ball, or peanut ball)

âś… Pool noodles (or similar lightweight object for drumming)

âś… Your participation & playful spirit!

Why Join?

• Gain practical, ASI-aligned sensory integration strategies for adolescents and adults.

• Experience how rhythmic, sensory-rich activities support motor coordination, praxis, and self-regulation.

• Explore ways to integrate movement, rhythm, and social participation into 1:1 and group sessions.

• Ensure interventions align with assessment findings, making sensory integration individualised, effective, and evidence-based.
